Computer Science Curriculum
9-12th Grade Curriculum Includes:
Four curriculum units per year based on
several literacy objectives in different technology areas. Curriculum units
are designed to encourage teachers and students to integrate subject material.
Technology skills build from year to year to ensure continuity as students
move from grade to grade. Lesson plans are available in Microsoft Office XP,
2003 and 2007.
A concise overview of each unit including:
o A lesson overview outlining the projects
students will complete in the unit
o A detailed list of technology objectves students will
master by the end of the unit
o A list of Microsoft Office applications students will
work in during the unit
o An outline of additional resources including handouts,
templates and samples available yo students to help them complete
their projects
Comprehensive teacher lesson plans including:
o Detailed technology objectives
o Clear Lesson overviews
o Guidelines for preparing each lesson
o Step by step instructions for completing projects
Additional resources including:
o Student handouts, templates and samples of
final projects
o Bulletin boards for use in the Computer Lab.
Lesson Overview
Students use word document and templates to create memos,
flyers, brochures, newsletters and official documents. The projects include
entering header, footnotes, endnotes and bibliographies, research
on the internet and chart information using tables and charts. Skills
include learning word document technology, using a template, inserting
objects, creating and modifying tables, adding page borders, importing
graphics, typing, formatting numbers and text, creating WordArt and
adding auto shapes.
Technology Objectives
Student will: Open a program, enter and format text,
insert and format images, create header and footer, change page setup,
research on internet and copy/paste data, create tables and charts,
modify WordArt, align content, add page borders, use shading and shadows,
insert and format auto shapes and text boxes, change margins and page
orientation, save and print document.

Lesson Overview
Students use spreadsheet and graphing skills to create
a spreadsheet, compare data and chart the results. The projects include
entering data into a spread sheet, charting the information and using
borders in a spreadsheet. Skills include learning spreadsheet technology,
using a spreadsheet, writing formulas, creating and modifying charts,
adding borders, importing graphics, typing, formatting numbers and text,
and creating WordArt.
Technology Objectives
Student will: open a program, enter and format text,
insert and format images, create header and footer, change page setup,
research on internet and copy/paste data, use a formula, create charts,
identify rows, columns, cells, modify wordart, align content, add borders,
use shading and shadows, change number format, change row height and
column width, sort data, change margins and page orientation, save and
print spreadsheet.

Invoice, Schedule, Sales Data, Balance Sheet, Employee Info, Inventory,
Profit & Loss, Sales Data, Organization Chart, Grade Averages, Scenarios,

Lesson Overview
Students use Power Point to create presentations
and slide shows. The projects include entering data into the slides,
inserting multimedia, WordArt, images, charts and tables. Power Point
skills include choosing templates, modifying backgrounds and theme colors,
setting up transition, time and speed on the slides. Advanced presentations
include recording narration and rehearsing the time, adding custom
animation, and using handout master & notes master.
Technology Objectives
Student will: open a program, enter and format text,
insert and format images, add title and subtitle, change template,
research on internet and copy/paste data, create charts and tables,
add WordArt and images/pictures, align content, add borders, use
shading and shadows, change bullet styles, font styles and size,
insert animations and videos and setup slide transition and time.

Lesson Overview
Students use Publisher to create documents such as
Banners, Flyers, Brochure, Business Cards, Invitations and Newsletters.
The projects include entering data into the text boxes, inserting WordArt,
images, charts and tables. Publisher skills include choosing templates,
modifying backgrounds and theme colors, editing layouts, fonts and images.
Technology Objectives
Student will: open a program, select a template and edit
content, format text, insert and format images, add autoshapes, change template,
research on internet and copy/paste data, add WordArt, align content, add
borders, use shading and shadows and change font styles and size.
